CrsWav – Series

This series was created in December of 2024. I called the output Crystal Wave, shortened to CrsWav, but I no longer think the name is accurate. These images are soft and diffuse, and nothing in them is crystalline. The name describes the experiment, not the pictures.

Bands of spectral color arc across a warm brown field, and at their right end a hard white burst breaks out in jagged points. Two ribbons run roughly parallel, the upper cool and silver-blue, the lower shot through with orange. A dark vertical bar closes the right edge, and the ground above is mottled amber and shadow.

Three narrow ribbons of rainbow light sweep from the left in a shallow curve and converge at a soft white bloom near the right. The surrounding field is deep coffee brown, nearly black at the top, with a faint pale mist above the arcs. Two small colored glints sit at the right edge.

Two thin spectral arcs cross a pale tan field, well apart from one another, each running red through blue along its length. A small bright highlight burns where the upper arc thins at the right. The ground is smooth and evenly lit, darkening only at the top corners.

A thick bundle of rainbow bands curves down and to the left, the color at its most saturated — orange, yellow, and green stacked in tight ribbons over a broad pale glow. The upper arc frays into fine parallel threads at the left. A small yellow glint sits above and right, against a soft brown ground.

Pale spectral ribbons run diagonally from lower left to upper right, thinning as they go, with a large diffuse white flare where they brighten near the center right. The whole image is soft-focused, the brown ground dissolving into haze at the edges, and a slim blue form catches light at the top right corner.
